I worked with Kanye West, Common and the Last Poets My Role: Production Mngr.

Music has been an integral component in the soundtrack of my life.

So, whenever I’m approached to work on a music video, it’s hard to pass up.

When the video is being directed by Kanye West and performed by Common–there’s nothing to say except, action!

I joined the project as the Production Manager.

My role was hiring the department heads, ensuring the creative vision was upheld, and to make sure the artists were happy.

One of the highlights on this shoot was that I got to meet Jalal Mansur Nuriddin,

a foundational member of the spoken-word crew the Last Poets.

He was a black revolutionary whose words helped spawn rap as we know it.

Though not often mentioned among hip-hop’s founding fathers,

Nuriddin had a significant influence on groundbreaking rap acts like N.W.A.,

Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five, and A Tribe Called Quest.

When you surround yourself with greatness, you are great.
